Google Now Has NYC Transit Information Posted on Google Maps

Google Maps has just added comprehensive transit info for the entire New York metro region. This data encompasses: subway, commuter rail, bus and ferry services from the Metropolitan Transit Agency (MTA), the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New Jersey Transit and the City of New York.

This means this information is now at the fingertips of the more than 20 million people who live in and around New York, and also the millions of people who visit the City of New York every year.

The MTA is the largest transportation agency in the U.S., serving one in every three users of mass transit in the country.

Take the A Train

This video has a whole lot of the feel of New York City.

The Take the A Train theme fits it perfectly.

Enjoy.

Different subject:

Did you know that much of New York City’s underground train system is also below sea level? During the World Trade Center Recovery effort the one primary fear was that the so called bathtub, the retainer wall around the WTC complex, might cave inward and that would allow open sea water to rush in from the river and destroy, perhaps in a manner unrecoverable, the whole NYC Transit system.

Please watch this video about the Katrina Disaster and the cause of the flooding. It is poignant to say the least and we should keep it in mind that this could happen to New York City also.

Another Handy Online Interactive Map of Manhattan

We have been using Google Earth maps for details of neighborhoods and they work very well.

There is another new company that has some pretty cool interactive maps that are set up by neighborhoods, and when you roll your mouse over stores and companies in the database you get a little pop-up window giving the name of the business and a little information about it.

There is even a way to submit your own ratings of stores and restaurants.

One other item we want to call your attention to is that we have never thanked our website design and hosting company before. Please visit LinkMoney.org and see if they can do anything for you.
